As a student nurse, I have learned various nursing skills and how to become a real nurse. Last year, on October, I had clinical placement for 2 weeks in Cardiothoracic ward in Liverpool hospital. During the clinical placement, I happened help a nurse to change diapers of one patient. It smelled really bad even to me that I have trouble with smelling due to allergic rhinitis, but the nurse keep her smile and took care of patients very professionally and kindly. It may just what nurse do, but I realised so well that moments what the real nurse to do. In my country, Korea, nurses do not showering, feeding, or changing diapers. They don’t nursing even their job named nurse, so I was used to just practice medical procedure to patients not care them. Now I have more interested in caring patients. Hence, I will study focus on how to effectively communicate and care patients but also need to learn more about the boundaries between me and patients and keep it to make patients feel comfortable.
